We are navigating a time when complexity is the norm, not the exception. Teams are dispersed. AI is reshaping our workflows. Disruption is constant. And amid this acceleration, we face a critical leadership question: How can we preserve our humanity — and develop leaders with compassion — in a world driven by speed, scale, and technology?

In my book, The Human Edge Advantage, Mastering the Art of Being All IN, I explore what it takes to lead in this environment: courage, presence, and an “All In” mindset that engages both head, heart, and gut. This means building deep self-awareness, showing up with empathy and strength, and fostering environments where people feel seen, heard, and empowered to contribute.

The world has changed and leadership must catch up. In comparison between 2023 and 2024, employee engagement is declining. This is a warning sign as disengaged leaders lead disengaged teams, and since managers influence 70% of team engagement. It’s costing energy, performance, and an estimated $438 billion in productivity.

Humanistic leadership is not about being soft. It’s about being deeply aligned and fiercely real. It means creating space for transformational or mutually beneficial relationships over transactional interactions— especially when the pressure is high and the pace is fast.

In our latest white paper, we examine what humanistic leadership entails in practice and how it benefits leaders and teams. We draw on original research conducted by Human Edge, led by Davide Cannata, Head of Research, which involved 25 teams that completed the CORE™ Fusion assessment and a follow-up survey. Their experiences show a clear pattern: the most effective teams are led not by heroic individuals, but by shared power, psychological safety, and human synergy.

We invite you to discover how humanistic leadership unlocks performance, and how CORE™ Fusion can help you put it into practice for your leaders and teams – at scale.

Why we created the CORE™ Fusion assessment

In reflecting on what the modern leadership challenge truly is, we realised that traditional leadership tools often focus on what we do (tasks, strategy, process) rather than who we are (presence, connection, authenticity). And for teams to innovate, to co-create, to thrive in uncertainty, they need more than clever frameworks—they need aligned human beings who lead with head, heart and gut.

That insight led us to design the CORE™ Fusion assessment as a diagnostic and developmental tool that:

  • Gives leaders and teams self-awareness about how they lead, decide and create using their full capacity (head, heart, gut).
  • Surfaces team dynamics and co-creation potential.
  • Is built for human-centric leadership and teams.
  • Moves beyond pure assessment into activation to: assess → reveal → integrate → activate.

In short: we created the CORE™ Fusion assessment to meet the gap between insight and action, and to ground leadership and team development in humanistic, co-creative models, not just hierarchical ones.

Why we built The Human Edge Advantage Team Journey

Assessment alone is not enough. Awareness without action or alignment without activation still leaves potential untapped. That’s why we developed The Human Edge Advantage Team Journey to complement the CORE™ Fusion assessment. The team journey takes leaders and teams through a structured transformational experience that fosters alignment, trust, inclusion, innovation, and shared leadership.

The team journey is the activation path: it takes the insight from the CORE™ Fusion assessment and translates it into real behaviour, team dynamics and sustained performance. It is designed for teams who are already high-performing and want to move into the next space: innovation, co-creation, shared leadership, “All In”.

  • Develop leaders and teams together—building trust, agency, and co-creation to break limitations and achieve peak performance through our transformative process.
  • When head, heart, and gut are integrated, we access the right wisdom for every situation — expanding individual and collective capacity.
  • The integrated assessment and transformational process unite individual insight with team growth—building trust, connection, and co-creative performance.

Why they work together & the “All In” mindset

Combining the CORE™ Fusion assessment and the team journey gives a powerful one-two punch: the inner and team system (CORE Fusion) is assessed, then teams and leaders engage in the lived experience of transformation together (team journey).

The result is not just stronger leadership in traditional terms, but a shift to what we call the “All In” mindset: leading with whole-person intelligence (head + heart + gut), building teams where people feel seen, heard, empowered, and where co-creation becomes the norm.

In teams, this translates into:

  • Greater psychological safety and trust at the centre of how you work together (instead of fear or hierarchy)
  • Shared leadership rather than hero leadership, so the system outperforms any single person
  • Innovation not as a buzzword, but as a capability anchored in inclusion and connection
  • Agility and resilience, because teams operate from a place of human relational strength as well as strategic clarity

Our research backs this up: examining 20 companies, 25 teams, 243 individuals across industries, we found that the high-engagement teams scored significantly higher across the five Pillars of team climate: Trust, Team Confidence, Inclusion, Innovation Climate and Shared Leadership. These are at the heart of our offering.

In a case story, highlighting the importance of synchronizing and integrating leaders and teams, Eliza, a high-performing consultancy discovered through CORE™ Fusion, that her team wasn’t resisting her vision—they simply couldn’t keep pace with it. With this insight, she shifted from operating as a solo accelerator to creating true team alignment, listening more and moving in sync with her people. Within months, her team’s energy transformed as they began co-owning goals, taking initiative, and gaining momentum together.

I just realized they’re not trying to slow me down. They’re trying to stay with me.

By using the assessment + the team journey combination, organisations aren’t just asking “are we good?” but “how can we be human-centred, innovative, and future-ready?” The journey invites leaders and teams to show up fully—not partially—to be “All In”.

For Business Leaders and HR Leaders

If you find yourself thinking: “We’re doing well—but there’s something more we could be,” or “The pace of change is overwhelming and we need more connection, more shared capacity, more innovation,” then I invite you to consider this:

What if your next step is less about doing more, but being more—more present, more human, more relational, more co-creative?

That’s what CORE™ Fusion and the team journey are built for. If you’re ready to explore how to bring this to your leadership and teams, I’d love to connect and have a conversation.
